WarningSum:...Heat Index Values 100 To 105 Degrees This Afternoon...

Warning Message:The heat index will approach 105 degrees this afternoon across a
good portion of our area. Even though temperatures are only the in
the upper 80s to lower 90s...the rich moisture content in the
atmosphere is causing the heat index values to rise to over 100
degrees. 
The only relief from the heat will be the scattered showers and
thunderstorms that are currently developing across the
area...which will at least temporarily either rain cool or
increase cloud cover that mutes the blast of direct sunshine.
Regardless of where you are...the heat and humidity will be high
enough to be uncomfortable. Hydrate yourself and avoid staying out
too long in the direct sunshine and overexerting yourself.
If you must be outside...remember to take frequent breaks in the
shade...drink plenty of water...and when possible...seek an air
conditioned indoor facility to cool off at least temporarily.
